Ultrasound systems from four competing manufacturers were evaluated before Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust selected a winner
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust evaluated ultrasound systems from four competing manufacturers before it decided to purchase five HDI 5000 systems from Philips Ultrasound.
Six months down the line since the latest acquisitions, Tracy Butcher, superintendent radiographer at Preston Royal, is unreservedly enthusiastic about the performance of the instruments: "They are easy to use, very versatile, and we knew from our existing HDI 3000 that systems from Philips Ultrasound are really robust.
The HDI 5000s give excellent images, even on the most difficult patients".
"We use the systems for abdominal work, vascular, paediatrics and in obstetrics and gynaecology.
The Philips applications specialist provides us with good support and she is readily available to give us updates or to install new applications." So did Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust make the right choice? Tracy has no doubts: "We all really like the images and we are very pleased with them."
