Mary Lopez becomes director of biochemistry at PerkinElmer in Boston, USA, leaving Proteome Systems where she was executive vice president of proteomics R and D
PerkinElmer Life Sciences has announced the appointment of Mary F Lopez as director of biochemistry.
In her new position, Dr Lopez will be responsible for directing the biochemistry efforts for PerkinElmer's three Boston area R and D locations.
Dr Lopez has a distinguished history in life sciences, and is a noted industry expert in the field of proteomics.
Having spent her professional career in the Boston area, she joins PerkinElmer from Proteome Systems, where she served as executive vice president of proteomics R and D.
In addition, she has supported R and D and applications development efforts for the Boston area offices of Genomic Solutions, ESA, Oxford GlycoSystems, Perseptive Biosystems, and Millipore Corporation.
"Mary brings to PerkinElmer Life Sciences decades of experience devoted to life science research, and is very well respected for her contributions to her field," said Neil Cook, chief scientific officer and vice president of R and D.
"Her professional focus on proteomics is the perfect complement to both our existing biochemistry and molecular biology team, as well as our evolving business strategy." Lopez holds a Ph.D in Botany from the University of Massachusetts.
She has authored or co-authored numerous articles in proteomics, and has been featured as a distinguished speaker and panelist at a number of prestigious industry conferences and events.
