Significant new products for high throughput screening and liquid handling shown at the Society for Biomolecular Screening conference in the USA
PerkinElmer has exhibited seven significant new products for high throughput screening (HTS) and liquid handling at the Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS) 9th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Portland, Oregon, this week.
The company's FlashBlue GPCR beads will, says the company, make PerkinElmer the only total solution provider in this largest application segment in lead discovery.
FlashBlue GPCR will be combined with PerkinElmer's offering of receptors, labelled ligands, microplates, and scintillating microplate readers including the LumiTrak luminescence cellular and scintillation imaging system, also introduced at SBS.
Additionally, FlashBlue GPCR provides the users, for the first time, a choice in scintillating bead providers.
"Our introduction of FlashBlue GPCR gives us the broadest GPCR offering in the industry, expanding our customer's choices for their receptor binding studies, completing our end-to-end solution in high throughput screening," said Peter Coggins, president of PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences.
"Customers can now select from a series of application solutions for their GPCR screening which includes HTS and uHTS detection, the broadest offering of reagents, and liquid handling.
"Backed by our technical support teams, we are committed to provide our customers with reliable, proven products and solutions to drive productivity in their drug discovery programs".
PerkinElmer's offerings at SBS were a combination of several new HTS products, product extensions and applications of integrated systems.
The LumiTrak system utilises fibre-optic imaging technology for high throughput 'inject and read' applications, making it ideal for fast-kinetic cellular assays.
PerkinElmer's EnVision multilabel plate reader now provides superior AlphaScreen technology.
AlphaScreen assay technology has been adopted as an HTS tool, and the addition of this mode to the EnVision enables customers to expand their use of this powerful technology.
The combination of luminescence homogeneous assay technology with a high capacity HTS plate reader offers excellent results, versatility and ease-of-use with high sensitivity and a wide, dynamic range.
The Multiprobe II Plus automated liquid handling system features technology enhancements for increased performance, a new version of its Winprep software for easier and more flexible operation and a new enhanced security option for 21CFR Part 11 compatibility.
Two other new integrated systems were shown - Tandem integrated automated liquid handling system that combines the power of the four- or eight-tip Multiprobe II Plus with PerkinElmer's 96- or 384-tip Evolution P3 precision pipetting platform to enable multi-step assays to be streamlined for increased performance, and the Multiprobe II assay development workstation which integrates the Multiprobe II Plus with microplate readers, such as PerkinElmer's Victor3 multilabel reader.
"We are working to and succeeding in making our products, and our drug discovery solutions, as user-friendly and as integrated as possible, allowing for more efficient drug discovery labs and fostering long-lasting partnerships with our customers," continued Coggins.
