James Mullen, chief executive officer of Biogen Idec, has been elected to PerkinElmer's board of directors
PerkinElmer announced that James C Mullen, CEO of Biogen Idec, has been elected to the company's board of directors. "We are very pleased to have Jim as a distinguished member of our board," said Gregory Summe, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer.
"He has played a vital leadership role in the success of Biogen Idec, and his insight and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow our position as one of the world's leading health sciences companies".
Mullen was formerly chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Biogen.
He was named chairman of the board of directors in July 2002, after being named president and chief executive officer of Biogen in June 2000.
He holds a BS in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Villanova University.
