HPLC system is designed to provide fast and accurate measurements of patient haemoglobin levels and aid in the identification and quantitation of haemoglobin variants
Primus has announced the worldwide launch of its Ultra2 A1c and haemoglobin variants analyser.
The Ultra2, newest addition to the Primus family of products, is an HPLC system designed to provide fast and accurate measurements of patient haemoglobin levels and aid in the comprehensive identification and quantitation of haemoglobin variants delivering unparalleled results for glycaemic control.
The A1c assay combines the speed and precision of HPLC with the accuracy of boronate affinity columns.
The result is a precise assessment of true glycaemic status in two minutes.
Two hemoglobin variant programmes are available on this platform - a four-minute Hb variant quick scan with an abnormal results automatic reflex to a ten-minute high resolution programme for Hb variant identification.
Features include automated sample handling, bar-code reading, simple, menu-driven software, on-line sample prep from primary tube and LIS interface.
The system is said to be precise, quick, versatile and easy to operate.
"The marriage of our breakthrough technologies of interference-free A1c testing and identification of hemoglobin variants sets a new standard of care for both the diabetes and variant hemoglobin populations" said Tom Reidy, CEO of Primus.
Affinity testing has become the method of choice in the healthcare industry today due to the presence of interferences and poor precision in other methodologies.
Primus claims to be a front-runner in affinity testing and offers a range of equipment designed for testing from the smaller volume doctor's office laboratories to the largest reference laboratories.
