The new pins have the following characteristics, which have been widely hailed by customers in preliminary evaluations: Material: tungsten, benefit: long life due to increased hardness (four times that of stainless steel) and vastly improved corrosion resistance compared to existing stainless steel pins.
Collars are colour-coded to denote tip and slit size.
Sequentially numbered for traceability from microarray lab back to manufacturing.
New packaging to facilitate handling and storage.

Conical, electropolished, tapered tips for decreased substrate damage and improved spot morphology. The company also offers printheads for the new pins.
The printheads are made of a non-corrosive, high-impact; lubricious polymer material that reduces galling and corrosion experienced with the current pins and printhead combinations in the market. The new pins can fit existing arrayers in most markets.
