European Biotech Network (EBN) of Belgium appointed as distributor for genomic/proteomic microarray spotting pin products in Europe
Point Technologies has announced that it has named European Biotech Network (EBN), of Belgium as its distributor for its genomic/proteomic microarray spotting pin products for the European Community.
EBN will be responsible for marketing and sales of Point Technologies's microarray spotting pins and head assemblies and other future products to the biotech market in Europe, including core facilities, which are large users of spotting pins for gene expression.
The company is headed by Jean Willems, formerly sales and marketing executive for Eurogentec, a major European biotech company headquartered in Belgium.
Kirk O'Brien, president of Point Technologies said "the inclusion of European Biotech Network among our international distributor network extends our position as one of the largest microarray spotting pin makers in the world.
Mr Willems is a well-respected manager in the biotech market in Europe, which is a very important geographic target market for us in the worldwide genomic/proteomic industry." Jean Willems, president of EBN said, "We at EBN are very pleased to be associated with Point Technologies and its innovative spotting manufacturing technology".
Point Technologies uses electrochemical etching and electroplating technology to manufacture precision pointed products from small diameter wire.
It is one of the few companies that can point and electropolish tungsten wire.
The company uses tungsten in spotting pins because it is almost four times harder than stainless steel and it is extremely corrosion resistant. Point Technologies1 products are used widely by companies in the semiconductor industry, who incorporate the company's probe needles in probe cards, which are then sold to chip manufacturers such as Intel, Motorola, TI and IBM.
Point Tech also makes a wide variety of needles and electrodes for the medical device industry.
