Polaris Instruments has developed a range of vacuum-powered devices specifically designed to pick up and place individual Arabidopsis thaliana seeds
The Vacuseed uses a small vacuum pump attached to a hand-held seed wand to aspirate each seed, enabling the user to move it around easily.
Two levels of filtration trap any fragments of seed escaping into the atmosphere, reducing the risk of any contamination of samples and specially selected tips for Arabidopsis seeds are also included.
The Vacuseed Airwand and Vacuseed Bug are the latest additions to the range and provide pump-free alternatives allowing them to be used in environments that don't have an easily available electricity supply, such as a greenhouse.
Both also come with filters and specially sized Arabidopsis tips.
