Andrew Penrose joins Polymer Laboratories as technical specialist in polymer characterisation, based at the company's manufacturing facilities in Shropshire
Polymer Laboratories (PL) is extending its group of polymer characterisation specialists, and welcomes Andrew Penrose to the team.
Penrose joins PL as technical specialist in polymer characterisation, based at the company's manufacturing facilities in Shropshire, UK.
He brings his expertise in liquid chromatography, specifically size exclusion chromatography (SEC) to the team, plus experience of a wide variety of analytical techniques and methods of polymer characterisation.
These include gradient polymer elution, multi detector SEC and SEC-FTIR.
He also has an interest in electrically-driven separation techniques, including those emerging for polymer characterisation.
Penrose started his career in analytical chemistry with Smith and Nephew healthcare research in York, UK, where he contributed to the development of orthopaedic and woundcare products.
Simultaneously, he obtained a first in applied chemistry at Leeds Metropolitan University.
He then undertook a PhD in separation science at Leeds University, which involved the development of novel, miniaturised devices for performing centrifugally-driven chromatographic separations and chromatography media characterisation.
His hobbies include hill walking, fresh water fishing and darts.
