Don Wellings has been appointed as technology manager, special projects in the field of solid phase synthesis and HPLC purification of peptides and oligonucleotides
Polymer Laboratories announces that Don Wellings has recently been appointed as technology manager, special projects in the field of solid phase synthesis and HPLC purification of peptides and oligonucleotides.
Polymer Laboratories says it has strong focus in these fields, and is recognised for its StratoSpheres resins for peptide synthesis, and PLRP-S reversed phase and PL-SAX/SCX ion exchange chromatography media for peptide and oligonucleotide purification.
Wellings brings valuable experience in the synthesis and purification of peptides and large scale therapeutics production.
He was previously technology manager for separation sciences and solid phase organic chemistry at Avecia, UK, where he set up a new business area in large scale solid phase organic chemistry.
Prior to this, Wellings was seconded to Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, where he was involved in the installation and commissioning of process scale HPLC and process scale peptide synthesis.
He has accrued a wealth of experience in peptide and oligonucleotide synthesis during a long career with Cambridge Research Biochemicals, Zeneca and Avecia, following his PhD in peptide synthesis at Wolverhampton under Professor Roger Epton. In his spare time, Wellings likes to listen to music and practise playing classical guitar.
