This year's main event from the Royal Microscopical Society is MicroScience 2002, 9-11 July 2002, at the Excel conference and exhibition centre in London
It's not too late to join the many other microscope users who've already signed up for the MicroScience 2002 Conference and Exhibition.
You can register on-line at www.microscience2002.org.uk.
This year's main event from the Royal Microscopical Society will encourage discussion of the never ending changes in the microscopical sciences and to show how the equipment manufacturers are keeping up by developing new instruments and procedures.
The scientific conference has a new style.
The first day of MicroScience 2002 will centre on developments and applications within the life sciences.
The second day will concentrate on new instrumentation for improved microscopy, imaging and analysis for all types of specimens.
The third day will be the preserve of the materials scientists.
16 two hour sessions will be held, most consisting of a plenary lecture from an internationally recognised expert followed by tutorial-discussion sessions in which contentious issues will be considered in more detail.
Each scientific session will have a linked series of practical workshops, which are the most innovative feature of MicroScience 2002.
The workshops are designed to enable small groups of people to see and use many of the new features of instrumentation, in situ analysis and imaging, which will be on display in the large exhibition area. In addition, there will be exhibitor workshops not related directly to topics discussed in the scientific sessions.
The exhibition of microscopes and associated equipment will be the biggest display in Europe for 2002 with over eighty companies occupying twice the space of previous events.
In addition to all these activities, there will be poster sessions and ample opportunity for small ad hoc discussion sessions among exhibitors, speakers and visitors ensuring MicroScience 2002 will provide an informative and fulfilling day away from the laboratory.
