Expanded distribution centre in Schnelldorf, Germany, offers guaranteed next day deliver for over 98% of the 85,000 products in the company's catalogues
Sigma-Aldrich, recently named 'best-in-class' supplier for service and support by over 1200 life scientists worldwide, has further enhanced its service to all customers in Europe with the opening of its recently enlarged 17,300m2 centralised distribution centre in Schnelldorf, Germany.
The centre will centralise storage and supply across Europe, offering customers guaranteed next day deliver for over 98% of its 85,000 products from its catalogues.
The centre has the capacity to store nearly two million products and is capable of processing 7500 orders per day.
Sigma-Aldrich has implemented a cutting edge warehouse management system that is fully automated that allows paperless operation with order-based picking.

Sigma-Aldrich also has a strong commitment to product manufacturing in Europe, with seven manufacturing centres in Switzerland, Germany, France and the UK. The German distribution centre receives over 50 semi-bulk shipments a day from these centres as well as from other countries including the USA.
It handles multi-brand orders for customers across Europe and is also used to restock smaller warehouses globally.
