Concerns over cross-infection has led to a re-design of existing reservoir systems and the result is a new single-use circuit made as compact as possible to ease storage problems
The new NP Krypton 81m reservoir circuit from Southern Scientific has been designed by Peter Childs and Neil Franklin, suppliers of krypton generators for over 20 years.
Concerns over cross-infection has led to a re-design of existing reservoir systems and the result is a new single-use circuit made as compact as possible to ease storage problems.
The new circuit expands into two self-supporting tubes that no longer require a drip stand support.
This makes it easier to administer krypton to both seated and supine patients and meets the trend of imaging patients supine with a two-headed camera.
Krypton 81m is most efficiently delivered using a reservoir system.
With the NP circuit the reservoir has been reduced to 125ml.
This is adequate for most patients provided the flow rate through the generator does not exceed 1litre/min.
The standard circuit is supplied in boxes of 50, with each box containing 10 thin bore krypton delivery lines.
Complete systems with a mouthpiece and noseclip, or medium adult facemasks can be provided.
If a user wishes to tailor the system to their own needs they can order from a range of accessories that include large and small adult face masks or Tru-Fit mouthpieces and noseclips.
A suitable air pump with a remote switch can also be supplied.
