Bucking the trend towards outsourced warehousing and deliveries, this firm aims to improve service in reagent and instrument delivery
Sysmex UK has announced the formation of Sysmex Logistics UK (SLUK) a dedicated company for Sysmex warehousing and distribution in the UK and Ireland.
Believed to be the first diagnostics company in the UK to take this step, the formation of SLUK allows direct control over reagent and instrument delivery. Taking a pro-active approach to customer service and supply chain management, Sysmex UK says it has bucked the current trend of outsourcing to dedicated logistics organisations.
Although this has been the previous mode of operation, Sysmex is keen to implement significant change in direct response to customer feedback.
Jeff Allen, managing director of Sysmex UK commented: "It is imperative we move our whole business forward, as to stand still is to go backwards in real terms.
"In order to continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers, we are introducing a whole new dimension to our after sales service and supply chain".
The customer services department is transferring to the new logistics facility, which will form the centre of SLUK's warehousing and distribution activities. The newly appointed general manager of Sysmex Logistics, Robert Ibbitson, has over 20 years experience in the logistics industry. "The general trend is to outsource and reduce costs. "It is a refreshing change to see a renowned supplier making the necessary increase in investment and committing to such a level of service".
Personnel have been in place since the start of 2004 and are currently implementing the systems and procedures to ensure a smooth transition.
