TTP LabTech has announced that it has entered into a collaborative research agreement with BD Biosciences Clontech.
BD Biosciences Clontech will provide non-exclusive access to a selection of its novel fluorescent proteins (NFPs) for use with TTP LabTech's Acumen Explorer in order to generate validated protocols predominantly for reporter gene analysis.
NFPs, which include DsRed, HcRed, AsRed, ZsGreen, AmCyan, ZsYellow, and a new monomeric AcGFP, are available for licensing from BD Biosciences Clontech.
True multiplex readouts in functional genomic studies have been restricted by the lack of fluorescent reporter proteins, other than GFP, and associated instrumentation.
This collaboration aims to overcome these issues by combining multiple NFPs with the Acumen Explorer's multi-channel detection.
The Acumen Explorer is a laser-scanning fluorescence microplate cytometer that enables the development and execution of powerful cell-based high content screens.
One of the Acumen Explorer's key capabilities is the rapid detection of changes in whole cell fluorescence that complements the broad utility of NFPs as reporters for target discovery, validation and screening.
In particular, the extended range of colours afforded by the NFPs is fully enabled with the Acumen Explorer's multi-channel detection.
