LGC Promochem brings ATCC's first print catalogue in nearly ten years to Europe, including indexing of cell lines grouped by gene or expressed protein products
The 2003/04 edition of ATCC's cell biology catalogue has been released and is now available to order from LGC Promochem. This thoroughly updated resource (the first paper-based version since 1994) lists ATCC cell lines by tissue source, disease and application, and hybridomas by antigenic specificity.
An exclusive feature is the gene and bioactive compound Index - a list of ATCC's cell lines and hybridomas, grouped by gene or expressed protein product, which cites NCBI's LocusIDs.
This free catalogue also includes a technical guide derived from LGC Promochem's in-house cell culture protocols as well as information on its extensive line of cell culture reagents and kits.
Jeffrey Anthony, ATCC business development manager at LGC Promochem, said: "ATCC is the world's leading bioresource centre and its partnership with LGC Promochem has meant that our European customers have quick and easy access to this enormously important resource.
"The new catalogue provides an invaluable guide to the ATCC cell biology collection. "It comes as a direct response to the demand from customers for a paper-based resource, and recognises the immense value of useful indexing as demonstrated by the new Gene and Bioactive Compound Index".
The ATCC strategic partnership enhances LGC s pharmaceutical business, which provides expert services in analytical technology, measurement and in vitro testing in support of drug discovery and development.
LGC Promochem s European offices supply ATCC's full range of cell lines and microbiological strains, and can organise shipments directly from ATCC's central repository in the USA if required. Furthermore, to guarantee quality standards, LGC Promochem only supplies authentic ATCC products, and not derived materials. Jeffrey Anthony continued: "LGC Promochem's service through our network of offices ensures a cost effective solution to increasingly time-critical research and, in addition, provides value-added customer service through its local technical experts. "The combined force of LGC and ATCC makes a real difference to the European biological and biomedical research community, and supports LGC Promochem's commitment to providing authentic research materials and standards worldwide."
