VWR International gains exclusive distribution rights for German company's HPLC chromatography column and sample preparation device product lines
VWR International has acquired the exclusive distribution rights in the US and Canada for the HPLC chromatography column and sample preparation device product lines of Merck.
This coincides with a major push by VWR to increase its focus on the HPLC chromatography segment of its international laboratory supply business.
Merck is a world leader in the development and manufacture of cutting-edge HPLC chromatography products. Included in this product line is the Chromolith HPLC monolithic silica rod chromatography column, a new technology in HPLC columns and a significant breakthrough for scientists because of its unique structure and performance characteristics.
The core of the Chromolith HPLC column is a highly porous monolithic rod made from silica gel, not tightly packed individual particles as in traditional HPLC columns.
These rods are clad into the column shell itself, forming a single integral unit.
The rods also allow for high flow rates over a very large surface area.
This results in superior, reproducible separations in a mere fraction of the time required by packed-particle columns, and at very low pressures which gives scientists great flexibility in application development.
In addition to Chromolith, other Merck HPLC products now offered by VWR International include Purospher Star, Superspher and LiChrospher HPLC columns, and LiChrolut and Extrelut NT sample preparation products.
