Elisa kits quantify total and ovalbumin-specific immunoglobulin E in just 2.5 hours, compared to the one week typical of some other tests
The main mediator of type I allergic reactions in the guinea pig is immunoglobulin E (IgE).
Until recently, the only way to measure IgE in a guinea pig's blood or plasma has been the PCA reaction.
But this is a time-consuming and laborious procedure.
Serotec now offers an alternative with clear benefits over the PCA reaction.
It has launched two Elisa kits that quantify total (MCA2337KZZ) and ovalbumin-specific gp IgE (MCA2347KZZ) in just 2.5 hours.
The kits are described as easy to use kits, highly specific and sensitive, requiring a small sample volumes, and suitable for multi-sample assays.
