Serotec has entered into license agreements with Molecular Probes to label many of its primary antibody range with Alexa Fluor 405, 488 and 647 dyes.
These fluorochromes are said to exhibit brighter and more stable fluorescence than comparable conjugates, and are insensitive to changes in pH over a broad range, making them more versatile for multicolour flow cytometry and fluorescence/confocal microscopy.
Serotec's current range includes antibodies to mouse, rat and human CDs and to macrophage markers together with their associated controls.
Serotec also offers custom conjugation of clients' antibodies to these dyes.
Alexa Fluor 488 is described as the best green fluorophore available and outperforms conjugates of fluorescein and Cy2 at every level.
The newer Alexa Fluor 405 is the optimal dye for the blue (400-410nm) excitation range and can be used with violet and krypton lasers.
It has minimal overlap with green conjugates making it ideal for multicolour applications.
Designed as an alternative to APC and Cy5, Alexa Fluor 647 produces similar spectra but has all the benefits of Alexa Fluor range.
