A new range of dessicator cabinets which provide optimum dust and moisture proof storage for anhydrous, hygroscopic biological and chemical compounds as well as electronic assemblies, has recently been unveiled by Scie-Plas.
It says these competitively priced cabinets offer excellent versatility and incorporate a number of useful features.
For example, transparent acrylic sides provide a clear, uninterrupted 360deg view of the contents being stored, a removable bottom lipped tray enables solid desiccant storage and ensures maximum drying with infrequent desiccant changes, while tension adjustment of the hinges prevents the cabinet door from unnecessarily swinging wide open when unclipped.
To ensure a gas tight seal, a silicone gasket is recessed into the door which, when closed, is held firmly in place by the tensioned door clips.
The units are made from robust 10mm clear acrylic so they withstand the knocks of every day handling within normal use, and are available in three sizes of small (height 178mm), medium (305mm) and large (457mm) and come with two, three, and four trays respectively.
They can be used within refrigerators, freezers or on bench tops and dependent on size, come complete with removable, adjustable and vented shelves to maximise the airflow around the stored items.
