Colin Booth is one of the key speakers at Concept Heidelberg's 'Microbiology for non-microbiologists' event that is to be held in Prague, 2-3 June 2005.
Booth is vice president science and technology at Oxoid.
Topics to be covered during the event include the characterisation of micro-organisms, how microbial growth occurs and what is required for growth, microbial identification techniques, validation of microbial test methods, environmental monitoring, how to handle microbiological out of specification results.
A workshop, 'Trouble shooting in the microbiological laboratory', will focus on the problems that occur frequently in microbiological quality control and possible solutions to these challenges will be discussed in small groups.
