Promega announces the launch of the GloMax integrated technology platform of reagents and instruments for bioluminescent research.
The range comprises luminometers, luminescent assays, instrument maintenance and servicing packages, and free technical support - all available from Promega as a single supplier.
The range of applications covered by GloMax is broad and extends from reporter gene assays, RNAi, cell viability and apoptosis, detection of proteases/kinases right through to detection of cytochrome-P450 activity or microbial contamination for industrial quality control.
Promega was recently presented with an award by R and D Magazine for the development of the P450-Glo assay systems.
The sensitivity of this product is said to be up to one thousand times greater than predecessors and is used to measure enzymes that play a vital role in human metabolism, for detoxification of medical drugs.
Promega's Ultra-Glo enzyme lies at the heart of the assay technology.
Ultra-Glo is a highly robust, thermostable recombinant luciferase which generates a glow-type luminescent signal.
These unique properties improve sensitivity and reliability across a wide range of assay conditions: "Due to the very low inherent background and protection of the photon emitter afforded by the enzyme, bioluminescent assays often outperform the analogous fluorescent assays in a broad range of applications" says Keith Wood, director, imaging and reporter technology at Promega.
