Solvent condenser for vacuum concentrators condenses vapours back to liquid, helping to pull a vacuum and speeding up the concentration process considerably
Barnstead Genevac has announced a new unique design of refrigerated solvent condenser for vacuum concentrators called the MiVac Speed Trap.
The new Speed Trap has been designed to considerably improve the performance of any vacuum concentration system, not just a MiVac, by condensing vapours back to liquid, helping to pull a vacuum and speeding up the concentration process considerably.
The Speed Trap features a novel cooled condenser coil, which is said to be extremely efficient compared to traditional evaporator condenser designs, and operates in a novel way.
The cold condenser coils are suspended directly in the vapour path, so solvent vapours condense directly on to the coils and run off into the collection vessel below without freezing, even when using water.
This method is highly efficient, with more than twice the condensing power of a similar system, says the company.
Users of the Speed Trap can readily see the solvents in the trap, and emptying is simple, requiring no defrosting.
The collection vessel is removed with a simple quarter turn, allowing users to quickly, easily and safely empty the cold trap.
Barstead Genevac claims to be the world's leading supplier of innovative, high performance centrifugal evaporators and concentrators.
Recently the company launched MiVac - a completely new range of affordable centrifugal concentrators for molecular biology applications.
Barnstead Genevac is a subsidiary of Fisher Scientific International.
