Micro brushless linear motor is particularly suitable for cleanroom and vacuum compatible environments with non-contact design extending longevity and effectively eliminating routine maintenance
Anorad, a precision linear motion specialist, has launched a new micro brushless linear motor, designated the LEU.
Ideally suited for applications where high precision and smooth motion is required, the LEU has an extremely long, virtually maintenance-free life, says the company.
As the coil and the magnet assembly do not make contact, the motor is particularly suitable for cleanroom and vacuum compatible environments.
The LEU features an epoxy core (ironless) design, so the motor produces extremely smooth motion and has no magnetic attraction.
As the motor coil has an epoxy core the resultant effect is that it zero cogging during motion, which makes it ideal for scanning and profiling applications.
Traditional rotary motor with ballscrew/beltdrive mechanisms require regular maintenance, whereas Anorad's new LEU linear motors can be fitted to a range of linear actuators.
The LEU's non-contact design extends the motor's longevity and in effect eliminates the need for this type of routine maintenance.
"Our linear motors can be built with as long a travel as the customer requires," explained Andrew Holmes, sales manager at Anorad UK.
"With other drive techniques there are major performance trade-offs when adding length, such as speed limitations and high inertia.
"Anorad's linear motors use the same moving coil assembly for any length of travel, so it doesn't affect performance".
The LEU linear motor provides between 22N and 115N peak force, depending on the model.
Additional options for positioning applications such as encoders, amplifiers, cables and controllers are available as is the complete product range from Rockwell Automation.
