Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (BVCPS) announces the consolidation and renaming of its UK business following the acquisition of Amtac Laboratories and Technicare Services
These acquisitions have reinforced BVCPS's position in the UK market, while expanding its services to meet the growing needs of its retail and manufacturing customers, it says.
This recent activity has seen the Amtac and Technicare brand names replaced, with both now operating under the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services identity.
The former Amtac Laboratories, one of Europe's longest established, Ukas accredited, consumer product testing organisations, specialises in the testing of hardline products including toys, nursery equipment, furniture, DIY, keep-fit, outdoor living and electrical appliances.
BVCPS intends to build on the reputation and strengths of Amtac's services by complementing them with a significant programme of investment and expansion.
BVCPS will continue to use the Altrincham-based facility, to test hardline products and support UK customers in their global business, until its new state-of-the-art facility is complete next year.
The former Technicare Services, based in Leicester, was established in 1990 and specialises in the testing of softlines including textiles, fashion accessories and jewellery.
Technicare is fully accredited by Ukas and has been instrumental in writing standards for many of the major high street retailers.
As part of BVCPS, Amtac and Technicare are able to provide their customers, which include many of the UK's major retailers, importers and manufacturers, direct access to the comprehensive UK and Asian, testing and quality assurance facilities, says the company.
In addition to the UK laboratory locations, BVCPS also has offices in London, providing further UK client support, particularly with respect to the global inspection and social auditing aspects of the business.
The continued growth of the company enables BVCPS to provide the UK consumer product sector with the best possible service and support, it says.
This latest development also demonstrates the company's dedication to consolidating its position as the premier, global conformity assessment provider serving the consumer product and retail markets in the UK.
