Peter Silley of Don Whitley Scientific has been appointed as visiting professor of applied microbiology at the University of Bradford
The company has long enjoyed an excellent relationship with the university and this prestigious appointment will further strengthen its links with a key educational institution, it says.
An experienced microbiologist with considerable industry experience, Silley will step down as DWS's research director, but will maintain his involvement with a consultancy role.
Head of microbiology Andrew Pridmore will assume overall responsibility for the company's microbiology services, overseeing a range of contract research projects and liaising directly with customers and sponsors.
The longest serving member of the laboratory team, he joined the company in 1991 and has significant laboratory and commercial experience, ensuring a smooth transition and 'business as usual' for on-going projects.
GLP compliant and fully accredited to internationally recognised standards, the purpose-built laboratories at Don Whitley Scientific are equipped to undertake a broad range of microbiological studies.
With a well-established reputation for leading edge research, the experienced team provides specialist support for diverse applications including drug development, animal feed studies, and projects for the medical device, textiles and chemical industries.
