The ICR open day presents an opportunity to network with peers, visit the resource centre, meet ICR staff, find out about ICR's special interest groups and also purchase publications at a discount
The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) has announced a raft of events open to members and non-members throughout October 2005 as it continues to build a programme that it says delivers relevant topics to all sections and levels of the industry.
Highlights include the French Forum on 17 October at the Hotel Napoleon, Paris, the ICR open day on 21 October at its head office in Marlow, and the ICR Roadshow which reaches Copenhagen on 30 October.
Top of the agenda at the open day will be an opportunity to attend a free workshop entitled It's your institute.
John Hooper, chief executive of the ICR, explained: "The title encapsulates what we are trying to achieve with all of our events and the wider programme of training and CPD.
"We are committed to driving up the standards of clinical research and supporting our members at every stage of their career from trainee to senior professional and our events prove very popular.
"We already provide a range of information services such as the monthly awareness bulletin, resource library, Odin Catalogue, monthly eNews and our member helpline, and we also launched ICR's first two eBooks, 'To Be a CRA' and 'To Be a CTA', which are both available to download for free from our website".
September's training events included an Introduction to Clinical Trials and Clinical Trials Practice and two Forum events in Yorkshire and Germany on 20 and 29 September respectively.
ICR also recently played host to the GCP and Ethics Forums.
The groups meet to discuss current ethical and GCP issues four times a year providing platforms for sharing best practices and the opportunity to effect change to guidelines and working practices, thus improving the working standards.
The next scheduled meetings are on 29 November.
