Flow cytometry system provides scientists with an accurate solution to combined multicolour analysis and absolute cell counting
Guava Technologies has announced the release of the new Guava EasyCyte Mini, the latest addition to its expanding family of accessible, affordable cell analysers.
The Guava EasyCyte Mini provides scientists with an accurate solution to combined multicolour analysis and absolute cell counting.
The system was recently launched to considerable acclaim at parallel exhibitions at the NIH Research Festival in Washington DC and Biotechnica in Hanover, Germany, and will also be highlighted at the International Biotechnology/Lab Automation conference (Ibla) in London, UK in November 2005 and the American Society of Cell Biology meeting in San Francisco in early December.
Like other Guava platforms, the Guava EasyCyte Mini system incorporates the enabling microcapillary technology, providing customers with the advantages of small sample volume requirements in a very compact and easy-to-use system.
The Mini system takes the Guava concept one step further by providing traditional blue laser analysis, thus expanding the selection of fluorescent dyes available to a Mini user.
"The addition of the EasyCyte Mini is a major step toward attaining the Guava vision of providing accessible, powerful, yet cost-effective cell analysis to the Life Science research community," said Lawrence Bruder, president and COO of Guava Technologies.
"The EasyCyte Mini delivers flow cytometric results directly to the scientists' benchtop".
The Guava EasyCyte Mini runs the entire suite of Guava's turnkey assays, enabling easy, fast measurements of GFP expression and viability, cell counting/viability, apoptosis, cell-cycle analysis, antigen detection, and more.
When run on Guava platforms, these assays require only micro-volumes of cells and reagents, while generating minimal waste.
In addition, like all of the Guava systems, the unique ability to obtain direct absolute cell counts, in addition to population percentages, allows researchers to monitor increases or decreases in overall cell number.
Guava Technologies, a privately held biotechnology and medical device company, is a provider of on-demand, easy-to-use, cell analysis systems.
The Guava Personal Cell Analysis (PCA) systems, including the Guava PCA, Guava PCA-96, Guava EasyCyte, and Guava EasyCyte Mini, are integrated, fully optimised, microcapillary flow cytometry systems with embedded absolute cell counting capability.
Used worldwide by the life science, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries, Guava's products have broad applications in scientific research and throughout the drug discovery and lead optimisation process, as well as for cell counting, cell health profiling, and the optimisation of commercial bio-pharmaceutical production.
Guava says its systems are flexible, highly affordable and ultra-compact, requiring only a few microlitres of sample volume, thus saving precious and expensive cells, reagents and compounds.
Guava offers a variety of assays and dedicated software modules.
