Jackie Bedford has been appointed by Bayer Diagnostics to co-ordinate activities of nurse educators who provide training and support for users of Bayer's urine analysis and blood glucose instruments
The service provided to customers by this UK-wide team is widely regarded as the 'gold standard' within the diagnostics industry, says Bayer.
Having worked as a nurse educator herself for the past two years, Jackie Bedford has extensive first-hand experience of the team's activities which encompass installation and demonstration of new equipment, subsequent update training and regular quality assurance audits.
When new blood glucose meters are introduced into a hospital, training may be required for up to 2000 nurses in different wards and departments.
"Our nurse educators have an important role to play in nurses' continuing professional development", says Bedford.
"They visit each Trust as part of a rolling programme, ensuring that all the nurses who use our equipment receive the training they need.
"My role is to ensure that our nurse educators are always where they need to be in order to satisfy customer requirements.
"The customer is always our number one priority".
In addition to co-ordinating the activities of the nurse educators, Bedford is also responsible for project managing all the team's training, product conversion and update activities.
"This project management approach enables us to tailor service packages to meet Trusts' individual requirements", she comments.
"We take pride in being proactive, drawing on our extensive experience to suggest the best way of meeting each customer's particular needs."
