New functional specifications have been released for discussion at the Bika community site.
The design has been completed in consultation with and is sponsored by Quantum Analytical Services.

Bika and ISO 1025 accreditation: A 2005 version of of the ISO/IEC standard 17025 'General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories' has been published in May.
With no changes to technical requirements.
A document has been posted at the Bika SourceForge community site, inviting discussion towards a simple Lims extract acceptable internationally.
Web based models present security challenges and current Bika measures improve on the ISO specification in many aspects but some elements need to be elaborated.
Only functionality additional to that already available in Bika is discussed.
The current system is described in the Laboratory Manual available for download.
Participation is invited on the bika-users mailing list, updates will be distilled and added to the specification on-line.
