With the help of first members of the embryonic Bika open source community, Dutch and Italian have been added to original Afrikaans and default English Bika languages
A 'How to' customise Bika languages page was published on the Bika community site and was responded to briskly.
It describes in eight easy steps how to create and run Bika dictionaries of Lims words and phrases in the language of one's choice.
A Dutch Bika dictionary, followed by Italian, were completed and are available for download.
Translation is simplified through the use of Plone's internationalisation feature - all texts displayed are tagged with identifiers which are used to look up translations when pages are rendered.
In this way, Plone has been translated into more than 40 languages including some that require non standard character sets.
The develope says it is looking forward to many more translations soon.
The current collection was done by Pierpaolo Baldan (Italian), Joris Goudriaan (Dutch) and Lemoene Smit (Afrikaans)
