Technology consists of a micro-fabricated chip that operates at atmospheric pressure and acts as a programmable chemical filter
Sionex's Value Added Component (SVAC) product family containing the MicroDMx sensor chip has been approved as an approved radioactive device allowing the distribution to end-users and customers not holding any radioactive licence.
"This will now allow Sionex to sell its SVAC products, including its technology demonstrator and evaluation system, to anybody interested in incorporating our MicroDMx technology into their end-user products without the requirement to hold any radioactive licence" said Anthony Bashall, vice president of marketing and business development at Sionex.
"This will also allow Sionex to expand its range of customers beyond the chemical/biological threat and explosive detection markets already served".
Sionex's MicroDMx technology consists of a micro-fabricated chip that operates at atmospheric pressure and acts as a programmable chemical filter.
This allows specific chemical and biological compounds to be detected and identified.
Sionex has MicroDMx evaluation units with a number of major OEM manufacturers and institutions which are looking at its potential use for process control, building security, chemical and biological threat detection as well as medical diagnostics and life science applications.
