Hydramotion has extended its range of in-line process viscometers with the launch of the T10, a slender-probe device particularly suited to high-pressure lines
An important application for the T10 slender-probe process viscometer is the production of powders by spray-drying, where concentrated solutions are forced at high pressure through very fine nozzles into a chamber of warm air.
This process is widely used in the food and chemicals industries for making such things as baby foods, coffee, soup mixes and dyestuffs.
The efficiency of drying is largely determined by the degree of atomization, which is directly proportional to the viscosity of the feed solution.
A T10 in the feed line will give the production manager tight control over the viscosity of the concentrate before it is pumped into the drying chamber, thereby improving productivity and enhancing the uniform quality of the product.
The diameter of the probe is just 10mm, making it ideal for narrow-bore pipes.
The instrument is typically supplied with a 3/4inch threaded process fitting, but any other fitting can be provided, including sanitary or flanged.
The standard probe is an all-welded 316 stainless steel construction without moving parts, seals or bearings, which can operate at up to 250C without requiring special cooling.
A high polish, PTFE or custom coating can be applied if required.
Outputs include a 4-20mA analogue viscosity signal and a serial data link.
Every instrument is factory-calibrated to traceable international standards, so there is no need for any on-site calibration.
The T10 is simply installed in any location and in any orientation, and once fitted it is virtually maintenance-free.
