The Seg-Flow 804M unit from Flownamics, coupled with the YSI 2700 select biochemistry analyser, provides the automated online analysis of key analytes in cell-culture bioreactors.
Flownamics, which was formed to address the needs of fermentation and bioreactor operators in the biotechnology industry, offers products to assist researchers in developing methods to optimise their fermentation or bioreactor processes.
Its products are utilised in a variety of settings, including laboratories, pilot plants and production environments.
The Seg-Flow is a small, self-contained unit that draws samples from one to eight bioreactor vessels using the Fisp cell-free sampling probe and delivers each to the YSI 2700 or up to four analysers in all.
The Seg-Flow system can provide feed control to each vessel.
In the feed control mode, it allows a constant level of nutrient in a culture to be maintained.
The YSI 2700 sends the measured result back to the Seg-Flow and posts it in the Flow-Web software.
The system then activates a feed pump (or an existing feed system) based on the measured result and target concentration.
There are multiple outputs to report data from each vessel.
The Seg-Flow offers a variable sample size (minimum 1ml), rapid and accurate sampling and samples taken from one to eight vessels (streams) at a time.
Samples can be taken cell free when the Flownamics Fisp sampling probe is used.
The setup, interface and start-up are said to be simple, while maintenance and operating costs are low.
The internal web server, Flow-Web, controls the system internally and each vessel or stream can have data and information logged.
Flow-Web can be viewed and controlled from any PC or smartphone.
