The sliding friction jig is designed to measure the coefficient of friction between two materials.
One material is fixed to the base plate of the test fixture, while the other material is wrapped around a weight which is then pulled across the first material at constant speed.
The test apparatus utilises the CT3 analyser to pull the weight in a horizontal direction so that the sliding friction between the two materials is measured over a distance that is sufficient to verify steady state behaviour.
The TA-SFJ can also be used to measure tactile qualities such as smoothness, slipperiness or stickiness and can be practical for applications including: lubricants and grease, personal care products and several types of surfaces and coatings.
Additionally, TexturePro CT software enables the operator to automate their test procedures and generate analytical data.
