Electrothermal CMU metal-cased electromantles are used to heat liquids in round bottom flasks and have been specifically designed to provide both efficiency and safety.
The original Electromantle series was revolutionary in providing a coiled flexible heating element, wrapping the heater around the flask to ensure optimal heat transfer.
Direct contact between the flask and the heating element is prevented by a grounded earth screen and the device is double-fused to ensure safety in use.
These design principles still hold true today.
To ensure that safety is further enhanced, the metal casing of the Electrothermal series of heating mantles remains cool-to-the-touch when in use, making them safe to use and suitable for busy laboratories with multiple users.
Automatic cut out of power will protect the operator from the risk of electric shock in the event of liquid spillage.
Features include:
- Round bottom flask capacity of between 50ml - 5000ml
- Element temperatures up to 450°C
- Built-in energy regulator
- Indicator lamps for power and heater operation
- Replaceable insulated heater cartridge
- An easy to clean powder coated aluminium outer casing
- Non-skid feet and support rod bracket (not including the support rods)
- Uncontrolled versions are also available (recommended controller, MC5)
Electrothermal’s extensive range of heating mantles includes CMU electromantles with metal cases and EM electromantles with polypropylene cases.
Some models offer an optional stirring functionality and can accommodate funnels.
Digi-Mantles offer accurate electronic control of both heating and stirring and, notably, the modular design allows for interchangeability so that a single base controller can be used to accommodate different-sized heating mantles.
Multi (extraction) mantles can heat three to six round bottom flasks simultaneously, including stirring function if required.
Primarily used for extraction, they can also be used as a space-saving apparatus for heating multiple flasks in any laboratory.
