Beam-alignment and light-management products are designed to meet primary performance specifications for OEM optical systems and will be shown for the first time at Photonics West 2006
New Focus, a division of Bookham, says it has achieved new levels of precision and stability with two innovative OEM offerings.
The new beam-alignment and light-management products are designed to meet primary performance specifications for OEM optical systems and will be shown for the first time at Photonics West 2006 later this month (Januray 2006).
The GuideStar OEM beam-alignment systems and Granite OEM light-management device will be displayed at the New Focus booth (number 1727).
The GuideStar systems actively align laser beams in precision optical systems to microradians and microns precision, enabling continuously optimised system performance; Granite systems are ruggedised, OEM-proven optomechanical platforms for custom light-management applications with precision stability to microradians pointing.
"This new offering demonstrates our breadth of capabilities and depth of experience in delivering for demanding OEM applications," said Herman Chui, director of marketing for New Focus.
"With these exceptional levels of precision and stability, we are enabling our OEM customers to reach new levels of system performance and reliability in a wide range of semiconductor and industrial applications".
GuideStar features ruggedised motorised mirrors, precision beam position and pointing detection, and industrial grade control electronics and drivers, providing a complete closed-loop for beam stability in OEM optical systems.
The systems are also customisable for application-specific requirements including continuous wave or pulsed beams, UV to IR wavelengths, large or small beam sizes, varying system geometries, and application-specific materials.
Granite incorporates the New Focus proprietary precision align-and-lock technology that allows precise alignment of both free-space optical and fibre-coupling elements with rugged, OEM-proven, long-term stability.
They are configured for a wide variety of OEM functions including wavelength multiplexing and demultiplexing, power splitting and monitoring, beam measurement and monitoring, interferometry, and multi-function, multi-port light management.
They are part of the New Focus Simply Better portfolio, also to be launched at Photonics West.
The portfolio includes photonics, motion control, control electronics and engineered subsystems, designed for semiconductor and industrial applications in metrology and processing.
