This lightweight, non-modular handheld instrument designed for Lan/Wan, regardless of the selected OTDR setup, provides a stable light source and visual fault locator on an optional basis.
Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering has announced the release of the FTB-150 Compact OTDR for complete fibre characterisation.
The FTB-150 Compact OTDR, on the strength of Exfo's industry-leading OTDR technology, supports any singlemode configuration at up to four essential wavelengths - among 850nm, 1300nm, 1310nm, 1490nm, 1550nm and 1625nm.
It is said to be ideal for installers who characterise local and wide area networks (Lans/Wans), enterprise networks and premises wiring, given that it allows various multimode and singlemode configurations in the same unit.
This lightweight, non-modular handheld instrument, regardless of the selected OTDR setup, provides a stable light source and visual fault locator on an optional basis.
The FTB-150 is a small and compact instrument designed to deliver best-in-class OTDR performance with a user-friendly Windows CE/Mobile user-interface.
Exfo's FTB-150 OTDR is available through a network of accredited distribution partners and catalogue houses.
It will be showcased at the 2006 BICSI Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida, 23-26 January 2006.
"This multi-purpose OTDR is the most complete fibre characterisation tool for Lan/Wan, enterprise and premises wiring test applications," said Etienne Gagnon, Exfo's vice-president of optical testing.
"Whether field technicians need to certify premises networks, characterise links during installation, or maintain and troubleshoot private networks, the FTB-150 OTDR delivers the required performance."
