Evaluation International (EI) has recently produced for its members a major evaluation report on the Yokogawa US300FM clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter
The work was carried out at TUV-Nel in East Kilbride on behalf of several member companies and was part-funded by Yokogawa.
This allows Yokogawa to comment on the findings but not to alter the EI report in any other way.
The meter was tested under ideal conditions with long undisturbed straight lengths of pipe, both upstream and downstream of the meter.
Reproducibility tests were performed in order to assess the effect of removing and reinstalling the transducers on the pipe.
Fluid property tests were performed to determine the effect of varying the fluid properties, whilst leaving the meters setup unchanged.
The fluid temperature and velocity of sound ranged between 8 and 45C and 1330 to 1400m/s respectively.
Entrained gas tests were performed in order to assess the effect of two-phase (liquid/gas) flow on the meter performance.
EI Evaluation Reports are produced primarily for the member companies which include BP, BNFL, British Energy, UKAEA, HSE, AWE and the Environment Agency.
It is possible for non-members to purchase these reports but emphasis is placed on attracting new members to contribute to the evaluation programme.
Non-members may purchase EI Selection Guides and Surveys and a list of publication titles is available on request.
