They are subdivided in accordance with their main properties, into corrosion resisting steels, heat resisting steels and creep resisting steels.
Part 2 specifies the technical delivery conditions for hot or cold rolled sheet/plate and strip of standard grades and special grades of corrosion resisting stainless steels for general purposes.
Also includes the use of flat stainless steel products including cutlery and other products in contact with foodstuffs.
Part 3 technical delivery conditions for semi-finished products, hot or cold formed bars, rods, wire, sections and bright products of standard and special grades of corrosion resisting stainless steels for general purposes.

Parts 4 (flat products) and 5 (long products) of BS EN 10088 are now in preparation to cover material for construction purposes.
When Parts 4 and 5 become available they will be harmonised with the Construction Products Directive.
