YMagic Technologies has recently announced the availability of its Pluto-3 video processing platform.
Video processing system developers can now acquire a ready-to-use, open platform, including hardware, software and a video compression library, enabling them to focus on faster development and deployment of unique intellectual property.
The Pluto-3 platform, based on Texas Instruments' DSP-based digital media processors, supports extreme high-end video processing capabilities and offers an extensive peripherals suite.
In addition to video and audio I/O, Ethernet and serial ports and Isolated I/Os, the it includes a hard disk and USB memory interface.
This allows complete video capture, processing, storage and transmission systems to be implemented, with no requirement for an additional controller.
Measuring 115 by 75mm, Pluto-3 may be introduced to most size-limited systems, including mobile, hand-carried and airborne applications.
The Pluto-3 is available both as an assembled unit and as a production package, complete with production file, board support package with drivers for all on-board components and production line verification software.
Also available are hardware design files, guaranteeing complete developer independence.
High-level BSP software provides API for all system capabilities, allowing maximum flexibility.
The package is further bundled with YMagic's MPEG-4 compression library, at no extra charge.
"YMagic's Galaxia family has enjoyed overwhelming popularity since its introduction six months ago".
"Addition of mass storage interface capabilities has been a requirement stated by many Galaxia customers," said Menashe Haskin, co-founder of YMagic Technologies.
"The Pluto-3 platform extends the capabilities of the Galaxia, allowing implementation of video storage systems with no requirement for additional controllers, and reducing system complexity and overall design and production costs".
"YMagic has applied its vast experience with video processing systems to the Pluto-3 design, resulting in a field-ready, real-world application targeted platform".
The Pluto-3 video platform is based on Texas Instruments' TMS320DM642 DSP-based digital media processors, and supports operation at up to 720MHz frequency, providing more than 5700 MIPS.
The platform includes video and audio I/O, a rich communication suite including Ethernet, RS232 and RS485, dry contact I/O, real time clock and watch dog timer, and high capacity memories.
The platform further supports IDE hard disk drives and USB Flash memory devices.
The platform, which operates from wide input voltage range, includes temperature sensor and software-controlled cooling device interface.
"We appreciate YMagic's commitment to TI's DM642 platform for its production-ready video security platform strategy, which adds new features in a size-optimised form factor," said Cyril Clocher, Texas Instruments DSP business development manager, EMEA.
"By taking advantage of the many capabilities of the high-performance DM64x digital media processors - including using the extra headroom for extended features - YMagic is able to satisfy customers' demands for industry-leading video security applications".
