Bfi Optilas has reduced the price of the Lightning RDT/16 high speed imaging camera.
DRS's Lightning RDT/16 camera provides standard off-the-shelf personal computers with the capabilities of high-speed digital video capture, intuitive camera control software and powerful motion analysis.
It provides an integrated, high-speed imaging system that addresses a wide variety of motion analysis requirements.
Consisting of either a small monochrome, colour or low-light camera head, detachable cable and custom frame-grabber board, the camera can capture 500 full frames per second at a resolution of 1280 by 1024 pixels, and it is capable of acquiring image sequences at frame rates up to 160,000fps at reduced resolutions.
The standard 4Gb camera memory can be expanded to 12Gb, and nearly 20 seconds of full resolution recording at 500 fps are available without compression.
The recording time can be doubled by capturing the event at 250fps or by reducing the camera resolution by 50%.
Typical applications include aerodynamics investigation, biomechanics studies, component safety testing, drop, shock and vibration testing, impact analysis, particle image velocimetry (PIV), production line diagnostics, vehicle rollover testing.
The Lightning RDT/16 camera is shipped with the Midas 2.0 intuitive camera software from Xcitex, which allows operators to easily control up to 16 cameras simultaneously, to perform vital motion analysis and to save digital video data in a variety of different file formats.
