New bioinformatics system Geneious 1.0 has gone straight to No 1 as the most downloaded software on Apple's Math and Science website
Launched just two days ago the software greatly simplifies functions like sequence alignment, tree building and sequence analysis.
"We are thrilled with this result," said Daniel Batten, CEO of Biomatters, which is developing Geneious.
"The high download rate matches the already very positive endorsement we have had on the beta version of Geneious from scientists all over the world." The Geneious beta version had earlier made its debut in the top three of Apple's Hot Picks.
Researchers can download Geneious 1.0 free.
