New range of FT-NIR products including an imaging system, tablet autosampler, and materials testing software promotes higher quality and reduces costs
PerkinElmer has introduced a new suite of products that combines near-infrared technology, automated sample handling, and powerful software tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
Based on proven FT-NIR (Fourier-Transform Near-Infrared) technology, which verifies chemical composition in a sample by the amount of transmitted or reflected infrared light, PerkinElmer's new products provide an extended range of applications to help pharmaceutical companies reduce costs, speed time-to-market, and improve their understanding of processes and products.
The new product suite includes the Spectrum Spotlight 350 Near-IR imaging system, Near-IR tablet autosampler, and Spectrum AssureID version 2.0 materials testing software.
"FT-NIR spectroscopy is ideally suited to pharmaceutical applications because it provides rapid information on product identity and composition with little or no sample preparation," said Peter Coggins, president of PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences.
"PerkinElmer's new products provide a strong competitive advantage to product development or quality assurance functions through compelling business benefits such as greater operational efficiency and faster troubleshooting capabilities." Spectrum Spotlight 350 Near-IR imaging system.
The Spectrum Spotlight 350 Near-IR imaging system is a near-infrared imaging system that provides a series of pictures of a sample showing chemical distribution at the microscopic level.
It quickly provides information about micro-scale chemical variations in tablets and solid dosage forms, allowing a greater understanding of their effects on key quality parameters such as hardness, stability and dissolution properties.
This information enables development and manufacturing functions to solve production problems faster, shorten time-to-market for new formulations, and reduce rework and problem solving costs.
Near-IR tablet autosampler.
The Near-IR tablet autosampler delivers fast, non-destructive whole tablet assays, equipping pharmaceutical QA laboratories to reduce testing time, minimising inventory and testing costs.
Tablets can be automatically measured in transmission and reflectance modes in a 30-position carousel, using a unique sample holder that ensures accurate measurements for all tablet shapes.
Spectrum AssureID version 2.0 software.
The new 21 CFR Part 11 compliant AssureID version 2.0 software simplifies the measurement of material quality, verifying the identity and quality of incoming raw materials, intermediates and final products.
A workflow user-interface simplifies method building and reduces operator training costs.
New features include the ability to perform quantitative analysis of product formulations, extending the usage of FT-NIR spectroscopy to final product assays.
