The HPLA80 belt-driven linear actuator from Micromech has undergone extensive testing to establish its suitability for use in clean rooms
Having been put through its paces it was recently awarded a certificate by Fraunhofer IPA Institute in Stuttgart, confirming the suitability of its HPLA high performance linear actuators for use in clean-room applications.
The belt-driven linear actuator underwent rigorous tests to measure the emissions from the actuator at 12 different critical points while it moved a 10kg payload through a series of different motion profiles.
Due to the increasing use of clean rooms in modern manufacturing processes and research, it was necessary to establish its suitability for use in such environments.
The IPA certificate is accompanied by a statement of suitability with detailed measurements report that can be used as a guide on how best to integrate the HPLA80 into a clean-room environment as it identifies the critical parts of the unit and the level of emissions at each.
These areas can then be examined carefully on the application, enabling them to be shielded or fitted with a suction device if required.
In addition to this the measurement report establishes a strong dependency between the particle emission rate, the rate of acceleration and travel speed to further assist system builders and end users maximise the use of the linear actuators.
The HPLA80 which previously had stainless steel fixings and bearings as an option, is now supplied as a standard becoming a cost effective ready to use actuator for clean-room systems.
