Coherent releases the Libra, a versatile one-box regenerative amplifier designed for ultrafast materials processing and scientific applications
"Libra is a femtosecond laser system that has been optimized for scientific and industrial applications that are outside of an optics lab," said Marco Arrigoni, marketing director for Coherent.
"Our goal is to provide users with an integrated, virtually maintenance-free system that will allow them to focus on their manufacturing or lab work, rather than on the laser itself.
"Libra does this by combining a simple user interface and hands-off operation with high quality output and the convenience of a compact, one-box package".
Libra delivers 1W of 800nm output at repetition rates of 1 or 5kHz.
It can also pump multiple optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs), providing wavelength tunability from deep-UV to mid-IR.
Designed for maximum reliability and performance, Libra's integrated design incorporates the field-proven Vitesse as a seed laser, and the Evolution-15 as its pump laser.
For simple operation, Libra is also equipped with a unique 'seed laser-to-OPA' computer interface, enabling users to control each of the internal modules of the laser through a single laptop computer.
In addition, Libra features extensive on-board diagnostics capabilities.

Founded in 1991, Positive Light designs and manufactures advanced solid-state lasers for science and industry.
