Nonlinear Dynamics have announced that the uptake of the new SameSpots approach for 2D image analysis has made it Nonlinear's fastest ever selling 2D analysis software.
First released in March 2006 the sales of SameSpots licenses in the first quarter of 2006/07 have exceeded those sold in the first 18 months after the initial launch of Progenesis.
SameSpots offers proteomics researchers a major breakthrough in the analysis of 2D single stain and DIGE images.
This unique approach offers users a streamlined, faster 2D workflow, largely through the elimination of post analysis editing (on the majority of experiments).
This drastically speeds up the 2D analysis process and reduces the subjectivity which editing inevitably introduces.
The SameSpots approach also guarantees 100% matching across an experiment and no missing values, allowing increased statistical power and new possibilities for 2D based proteomics research.
These benefits have been extremely well received by proteomics researchers, who in the past have had to persevere with the inherent challenges of 2D image analysis.
The customers who are benefiting from the new SameSpots technology span the academic, pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
At the time of writing the latest placement of this exciting technology has been at the Medical University of Vienna.
Christopher Gerner, Associate Professor of Medical Biochemistry said "The SameSpots option is simply wonderful and I am so happy because it makes life so much easier for us! Currently we are finalising several large 2D projects and spend so much time to find the significant alterations this will be so much easier from now on".
"To give you an estimation spot correction based on detection and comparison to a reference gel took about 3-6 hours per gel".
"Now we only need to align the gel, which takes us about 30-45 min per gel." Will Dracup, CEO of Nonlinear Dynamics said, "The speed at which customers have converted to the SameSpots approach indicates the impact of this new technology in the proteomics marketplace".
"The range of benefits that SameSpots offers has the potential to re-invent 2D electrophoresis as the application of choice for proteomics research".
"This technology is being continually developed, for example we are about to roll out a semi-automated image alignment tool which makes analysis using SameSpots even faster".
"The future of 2D electrophoresis as the key proteomics application has never looked brighter."
