Inspec archive provides fully searchable access to over 70 years of international scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical engineering, electronics, computing and control engineering
Inspec, produced by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and made available by FIZ Karlsruhe through its online service STN International, has been enhanced with the Inspec Archive File from 1898-1968.
The Inspec Archive file provides fully searchable electronic access to over 70 years of international scientific and technical literature in physics, electrical engineering, electronics, computing and control engineering.
It has been digitised from various volumes of the Science Abstracts journal series, published between 1898 and 1968.
The archive comprises 873,699 records (which means that Inspec now contains more than 9.8 million records in total), including tables, and figures (2902 images) from the original source document, the original value-added indexing and classifications as well as enhancements in the form of the nearest equivalent current Inspec thesaurus terms and Inspec classification codes.
This allows for searches in both the Inspec and the Inspec Archive.
Element Terms (/ET), an STN-exclusive, handy search tool, is also available for the Archive data.
STN International offers a broad, unique range of bibliographical, factual and full-text databases from all areas of science and technology, including patent and selected business files.
STN customers can search for the more than 500 million documents available on STN via web-based and command-based interfaces, using a standardised search language.
Also available are excellent tools for the analysis, visualisation and post-processing of search results, in particular the new software STN AnaVist with sophisticated functionalities for the analysis and visualisation of large data sets.
