The CLARIOstar® multimode microplate reader is BMG LABTECH’s most flexible and versatile microplate reader yet.
The CLARIOstar® from BMG LABTECH is a modular microplate reader with up to eight different detection modes and an Atmospheric Control Unit for live cell-based assays, and the company says it is their most flexible microplate reader yet.
BMG LABTECH’s CLARIOstar® has up to eight different detection modes: fluorescence intensity (including FRET), fluorescence polarisation, luminescence (including BRET), UV/Vis absorbance, time-resolved fluorescence (including TR-FRET), and AlphaScreen®/AlphaLISA®.
The company says that it does not compromise on either sensitivity or flexibility thanks to its advanced LVF Monochromators™, highly sensitive filters, and ultra-fast UV/Vis spectrometer.
It seems to be the ideal choice for assay development, and the CLARIOstar® is now available with an Atmospheric Control Unit for live cell-based assays.
The CLARIOstar® has increased sensitivity over conventional monochromators with continuously adjustable bandwidths (8 to 100 nm) and wavelengths (320 to 850 nm) and combines the use of LVF monochromators™ and filters in the same measurement. Full-spectrum UV/Vis absorbance measurements are produced in less than 1 second and it has a dedicated, high-energy laser for AlphaScreen®/AlphaLISA®/AlphaPlexTM.
There is also automated focal Z-height adjustment for top and bottom readings and multi-user control and MARS data analysis software, with integrated fluorophore library. The CLARIOstar® now also features ACU compatibility for O2 and CO2 control and is compatible with BMG LABTECH’s LVis Plate and Stacker Microplate Handling System.
The CLARIOstar® microplate reader is ideal for many different applications, such as SPARCL and the CycLex SIRT1 assay. SPARCL is a type of immunoassay that does not require washing steps. The analyte is detected by binding two antibodies: one is coupled to horse radish peroxidase (HRP), the other is coupled to the HRP substrate Acridan. Therefore the analyte will bind both antibodies, bringing enzyme and substrate together.
The reaction is started by the addition of hydrogen peroxide and produces a light in proportion to the amount of analyte, which requires measuring as the trigger solution is added. The CLARIOstar® microplate reader is ideal for this purpose.
The CycLex SIRT1 assay is a peptidase coupled lysine deacetylase assay and again the CLARIOstar® is the perfect reader for carrying this assay out.
Thanks to this mixture of versatility, sensitivity and flexibility the CLARIOstar® opens up a whole world of possibilities, whatever the assay, whatever the wavelength, whatever the bandwidth.
