Applied Scientific Technologies (AST) has developed ‘Deft’ and ‘Hyve’ as part of a digital and robotics roadmap in the Lab-of-the-Future landscape.
The company specialises in robotics, automation and equipment integration in life and physical sciences for laboratory and medical applications. AST specialises in Laboratory 4.0, Collaborative and Autonomous Robots, System Integration, Internet of Things (IoT), SiLA (Standards in Laboratory Automation.org)and AI.
Deft, the Digital Enabled Formulation Toolset built on the SiLA2 standard Rapid Integration protocol, provides the information gap when comparing manually-made laboratory bench formulations and offers a new way for scientists to accurately create formulation instructions with ease. It was developed with industrial research and formulation scientists, but will also fit other laboratory types and processes.
Deft was developed using a mobile phone or tablet App which acts as an on-board guide (SOP) while digitally recording all information and resulting data. Data captured by Deft, can be used for audit/verification of formulations, data acquisition and process scale up.
Hyve, an Autonomous Collaborative Robot, is designed to discover advancements in formulation chemistry and biotechnology and you can download the PDF below. A user-friendly cobot that can be configured for the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, biotech and food and drinks market, it can be adapted and redeployed easily so as requirements change. Hyve’s modular concept, consisting of a base system with plug in modules/segments, can be configured for different lab equipment and analytical processes built-up with each new segment addition.
The use of Laboratory 4.0 and IoT technologies future-proofs both systems as they are compatible with Over-the-Air updates, re-deployment and performance dashboards.
AST will be showcasing Deft and Hyve on Stand F80 of Lab Innovations at the NEC Birmingham in November https://www.appliedst.co.uk/
